Talon was a large bronze giant with wings on his back. He was one of the inhabitants of the crab island Karkinos, and was the main protector of the island.

Personality

Florence describes Talon as using simple, profound words.[1] He often says exactly what he means.

Appearance

Talon is a large bronze giant with large white wings.[2] He is shirtless.[2]

"Standing on the shore was a gorgeous, shirtless giant. He had wings on his back. And he was made entirely of bronze."
― The Unwanteds: Island of Legends, "The Island of Legends" (352)

History

Talon says that he woke up on Karkinos thousands of years ago, with no other memories of how he got there.[1] He stayed with the crab for a long time, and saw all of the other inhabitants of the island arrive, and learned all of their stories.

Relationships

Karkinos

Karkinos and Talon are incredibly close. Talon's first memories are waking up on Karkinos, and the two have been together ever since.[1] When faced with an eternal life, Karkinos says that he wants to live as long as Talon does, which is probably forever.[3]

Quotes

Abilities/Weaknesses

Talon is likely immortal, at least according to Karkinos.[3] He is also mostly invulnerable, except for his heel. This is a weak spot that can access his only vein, running from his head to his foot. Being harmed here can kill him very quickly.

Talon can fly, and can carry a few people at a time.

Talon can fry an egg on his biceps.[4]

Trivia

  • In Greek mythology, Talon, also spelled "Talus" or "Talos," was a giant bronze automaton created by Hephaestus to protect Europa from pirates and invaders. He is fabled to circle the island's shores three times daily. He has one vein, running from his neck to his ankle.[5]
  • In the past, Talon has longed for death.[3] He's fine now, though.
